Kindel, The Crowning of Our King, allows you to travel through the world of kings, war, love, and destiny. Set in the realm of Three Kingdoms that share resources, young Kindel witnesses the death of his father, the king, resulting in the collapse of Printan. Invaders led by Kindel’s best friend, Elsthin, are determined to destroy all the Kingdoms. Having escaped the surprise attack, Kindel travels throughout the land where he learns about deceit, false truths and betrayal. The finely detailed scenes captures the reader’s imagination and loyalty. As sub plots appear and disappear, the truth of Elsthin unfolds. Kindel struggles to find his destiny and the inner strength to achieve it. There are scenes where you laugh, where you feel the anger, and where you reach into your own inner emotions. When you think Kindel has reached his pinnacle, a new sub plot surprises the reader. When you read the last page, you will be clambering for the next book in the series.

Kindel is the best epic fantasy book I have come across in a long time. It is obvious that the author poured all of his passion into writing this book. With constant acts of heroism, bravery, betrayal, and sacrifice this book is a compelling must-read. This epic tale is rich and fascinating and leaves the reader in suspense, constantly wanting to know more. There is continuous action and adventure that leaves you at the edge of your seat. The story comes alive with heroic deeds, tragic battles, mythical creatures, fallen friendships, honor and love of family. The constant character development leaves you emotionally invested in the characters of the story, making you feel as though you are on the journey with them. Kindel becomes the hero that you can root for and become proud of as you watch him grow into the man and king that he must be, whether he is prepared for it or not. This is an extraordinary and rewarding read. The only disappointing part: There is no sequel yet!

This is the first novel written by Brian Tolbert and I hope it is not his last. Although I rarely read high fantasy this was a good novel that doesn't go over your head. Kindle also does great in terms of action. Unlike most young adult novels it doesn't really slow down with sex and love triangles but get ready for the up and down sequence, there will be epic fight scenes and than slow down to catch your breath, than things escalate again and than a character gets decapitated . The plot was well written and goes into great detail on the characters and their background. In terms of violence and sex it is moderate to where it will give a little tease but safe for younger readers.
This is a good novel on childhood friends as they have the weight of the world on their shoulders and it is great for any reader.
